On Sunday morning, 26th June, as part of a worldwide ringing event, St.Peter’s band of 6 bell-ringers rang a 15-minute set of ‘call changes’ to raise money for the Anthony Nolan charity, raising awareness of blood cancers and encouraging bone marrow donors. Julie McDonnell, Sussex bell-ringer and leukaemia sufferer walked and rang in 6 churches along the Pilgrims Way to Canterbury Cathedral. In fact, bells (including hand-bells. cow-bells, ship’s bells and meditation bells) were rung all over the world, including on the Great Wall of China, on a plane over the North Pole, and even on the international space station! It was wonderful to be part of such an inspiring event.
