The first Ashburnham Arts event took place in October with lots of high class exhibits at the Village Hall, refreshments served and even live music to entertain those viewing the art work. The date for the 2023 Ashburnham Arts event is 21st October so put the date in your diary.
MI (Men’s Institute) continued with monthly meetings at the Ash Tree Inn as well as organising regular outings such as the golf morning pictured here, where the quality of the cooked breakfast is judged as seriously as the quality of the greens.
The newest village club formed in September with a growing group of villagers learning how to play Short Mat Bowls in the village hall. See the calendar pages for ongoing dates, anyone is welcome to go along.
Lots of village residents turned out to support the annual Out of the Blue Run at Ashburnham Place in May, some ran the course and others helped steward.
Some of our best bakers ran the catering at the vintage motorcycle event in the summer, much tea and cake was enjoyed by all who attended.
Another successful bonfire and firework night was held in november, raising money for the New Village Hall. The bonfire burned high, the fireworks were fantastic and the sausage rolls were delicious.
Lots of Carols were sung at church services in December but also on a cold winter night when a group of us travelled around singing house to house.
A few nights later, the popular Carols in the Pub event was held at the Ash Tree Inn with standing room only, certainly a lot warmer than the outdoor singing.
It was a sunny day in July when Penhurst Retreat Centre held their Open Day with stalls to browse, a photographic exhibition, lots of scones to enjoy and friends to catch up with.
Ashburnham Place has continued to host their farmers and producers market throughout the year – this takes place on the first Saturday of the month from April – December.
The Village Walking Group held a number of walks of varying lengths and around different areas of the beautiful countryside around our villages.
Revd Gary led a number of services and events in the villages during the year, including a Plough Sunday Service at the Village Hall, Rogation Service at Brigden Hill Farm, a series of village walks during Holy Week, a lovely community service the day after the Country Fair in July and the Villages’ Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in November
