blind assassin

Our book for April is The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, winner of the Booker Prize in 2000.

82-year old Iris, coping with her increasingly unreliable body, reflects on her far from exemplary life, including her role in the death of her younger sister Laura. Laura is the author of notorious cult novel “The Blind Assassin”, a pulp sci-fi fantasy, co-created in secret assignations with her lover-on-the-run, and its plot winds through love, sacrifice and betrayal. The story of Iris and Laura mirrors these themes, while events move closer to war and catastrophe.  By turns lyrical and outrageous, this is a novel of deep humour and dark drama.

If you would like to read it contact Edith on 01424 892707 (afternoon group)  or Nicole on 014224 894208 (evening group).
