To all who have an interest in the future of the village hall, you are warmly invited to a meeting – 5th December at 7.30pm in the village hall. The plan is to encourage individuals to form a team who will help to inspire activities to raise funds to pay for works required to ensure the hall is fit for purpose for its long term future. Two quad bikes stolen in the last 24 hours, a copper water tank recently and vans containing tools broken into. The catalogue continues and the police are urging all of us to be sure to secure our property properly.
The Parish Council welcomes Mrs Fay Merrick who was co-opted to the Council at its meeting last Wednesday.
On Monday 1st July work starts in Church Road for two weeks which promises to disrupt traffic. Highways will be drilling holes in the Centre of the road at intervals to take core samples of the sub-surface. Expect to see road closed signs from Woods Corner to Kitchenham Road though the actual restricted section should only be between The Pound and Ponts Green. They have agreed to suspend all work on Election Day. On Church Road itself there could be holdups until an escort vehicle takes you round the obstruction (or so says the notice). Feedback will be posted here once we find out in practice what’s happening next week.

Cllr Paul Spicer was elected Chairman at the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council on Wednesday 29th May. Cllr Spicer was previously Deputy Chairman, a position to which Cllr Jay Ashworth was elected.
It was the wish of the Annual Village Meeting that the Parish Council write to the fund raisers organising events to raise money for the new village hall and convey to them the wishes of the meeting now that it has been generally agreed that the new hall project has run into difficulties which seem insurmountable. The letter has been sent and can be viewed by clicking here.
The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 25th April are now available to view on the parish council minutes page. To go straight there click above then this link.
